About Us

The Whitley Captures is a family and corporate photography studio in County Durham ran by me, Rachel Whitley!

My little home photography studio opened in September-2019. Both my husband and I have both long been obsessed with capturing a moment in time through digital photography, and are experienced in various DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and editing software - setting up my own business became the natural next step. We have two little boys, who you might see peeking at you when you arrive - needless to say, they are potentially the world's most photographed kids!

Your family is your most important thing - your world. Trusting a photographer with your children, especially if they're newborn, is an important decision, which is why you and your family become my most important thing too as soon as you walk through the door.

I'm a friendly, caring host with a tonne of patience. I go above and beyond to care for, engage with and entertain your family when visiting the studio, and that translates into natural and happy, yet safe, images.

I pride myself on how often I hear how well I've bonded with clients' little ones, my 100% positive Facebook recommendations, as well as the number of clients who return time and time again. I also understand that things don't always go to plan with little people, and am flexible to make sure you're happy with your experience.

Needless to say, I have completed extensive training to ensure I work safely regardless of the ages of your little ones. I have learned from some of the world's most successful photographers and I am always learning more to make sure I'm keeping my clients safe. I'm a member of The Guild of Photographers and my work has won awards from both Shine and Glow Awards.
