Two children in an autumnal setting

Oh boy, what a Christmas!

Well, we’ve just completed our first festive season and what an experience!

With Mini Shoot sessions at home and at Woodland Play Patch, we met so many lovely families and I’ve lost count of how many snowballs I’ve had thrown at me! So much fun.

Take a look at some of the festive captures at the very bottom of this article. If you’re a business reading this, and would be interested in hosting a Mini Shoot session this year, get in contact to discuss how it works with The Whitley Captures.

From a theme perspective, we opted for a fun and festive backdrop theme, with a few, mainly wooden props (who doesn’t love a wooden toy!). I brought in fake snow and snowballs depending on the age of the children - and they LOVED it!

Did you know that my dad made the wooden sledge that I used in most of our shoots? And my Mam knitted a bunch of Santa hats! This really is a family business.

In editing, we went for a mix of snow, sparkle and magical effects, to make the captures extra special, depending on the light and style of the photo and also the pose of the children in the captures.

It was amazing to see so many mammies and daddies getting involved; we even had a family in full matching pyjamas! Now that’s commitment.

We’re already looking forward to next Christmas, where we’ll be offering two styles of themes, but don’t worry, there’s so much happening at The Whitley Captures in the meantime.. watch this space.
