Welcome, and what to expect

Hello, and welcome to The Whitley Captures photography studio! 

First of all, thank you for considering us as your family, child or corporate photographer - we still have to pinch ourselves that we’re so lucky to be doing something we enjoy so much. 

Let us introduce ourselves.. We are Rachel and Mark Whitley; hi there! I (Rachel) do most of the photography and social media, with Mark supporting on, mainly outdoor photography and the editing behind the scenes. 

We will work with you initially to understand what you’re aiming to get from your photo shoot, make any suggestions and make sure we can capture what you want. This may include a bit of back-and-forward and no question is a silly one. 

Our studio is based on the 1st floor of our home in Sherburn Hill (just let us know if you need a ground floor shoot due to disability etc). If you’re driving to us, feel free to park at the bottom of our driveway, or in one of the visitor bays throughout the street.

With being based at home, our boys - Dylan (4) and Fenn (2) - may also be around. They like to “help” occasionally, but mainly they’ll be downstairs or outside. They particularly enjoy seeing babies and showing you their toys, just to warn you! 

Typically, we would head straight to the photography studio, which will be set up in your desired theme with any props we need - we also have some seats outside the room for family members. There’s also a little bit of paperwork for me to complete, but it only takes a moment. 

Quite often, younger children will be a bit unsure of their new surroundings and the unfamiliar lady with a camera in their face - please do not worry if they’re not forthcoming, we will have plenty of time to help them relax, without pressure. We can take breaks as they need. 

If we’re on a location shoot, we will meet at an agreed time and place and aim to capture any formal or posed photos first before we get into the fun, more lifestyle photography - it’s much more difficult to calm down children having a fun time than the other way around! 

We occasionally hold events at local play places too. During these events, just give me a shout or wave when you get there and I’ll give you a shout when ready. 

Following your shoot, we aim to have your images emailed to you within a few days, although this may be longer during busy periods such as Christmas mini shoots. You will be able to download your high resolution, unrestricted images via a WeTransfer link, which is easy peasy. 

If there’s anything you’re not keen on with your images or any changes you’d like, please don’t be afraid of speaking to us about it; we will do it if we can.
